About Sanctuary A Place For The Displaced
The Idea For Sanctuary Was Planted In 1989 Because Its Founder Experienced Homelessness First Hand And When Finally Able To Secure A Place To Live Began To Share Her Home In Order That Others Could Share Expenses Too Costly To Endure Independently And To Acquire Better Living Conditions. This Organization Is About Teaching Others How To Break The Cycle Of Homelessness And Displacement And To Either Have The Best Quality Of Life Available To Them Living In A Group Home Or Shelter Center Or To Return To Independent Living By Receiving A Hand Up Instead Of A Simply Hand Out. Our Motto: If You Give A Man A Fish, He Will Surely Not Be Hungry For That Day, But If You Teach A Man How To Fish, He Will Not Be Hungry For A Lifetime. The "Sanctuary" Idea Is Not New Under The Sun. It Simply Goes Back To The Basics Of What This Country Was Built On. A Man That Won't Work Should Not Eat! We Are Our Brother's Keeper And In This Great Nation, No Person Should Be Hungry, Frigthened Or Scared Because They Cannot Do The Simple Things Such As Get A Drink Of Water When Thirsty, Not Be Required To Take Part In A Lottery In Order To Only Get A Chance To Throw A Blanket On The Floor And Be Herded Out Before Daylight, Rain Or Shine. Nor Should Children Who Make Up A Large Number Of Homelessness Be Subjected To Harsh And Inhuman Treatment Because Of The Failures Of The Parent. The Family Should Be Able To Remain Together As A Unit And Be Torn Apart By Separation And Humiliation. Going Back To Providing For Those Things That Others Take For Granted Makes Us Innovative After All! The Founder Of The "Sanctuary" Puts All Of Her Trust In The Lord And Savior Jesus The Christ!
