Core Enjoys A 501(C)3 Status With The Irs Making Donations To The Organization Tax Deductible To The Extent Allowed By Law. Core's History Includes: Developing The "Sit-In" Tactic Used To Desegregate Public Facilities Across The Country; Core Organized And Led The "Freedom Rides" To Protest Discrimination On Public Transportation. Core Was One Of The Leaders Of The "Freedom Summer" Project To Register Blacks To Vote In The South. Core Suffered One Of The Gravest Casualties Of The Civil Rights Movement When Three Core Workers--Andrew Goodman, James Chaney And Michael Schwerner--Were Brutally Murder By The Kkk While Working In This Project In Mississippi.
