Scs Is An Emergency Assistance Agency. Emergency Assistance Is The Most Cost Effective Way To Prevent Homelessness And Hunger, Both In Terms Of Dollars And Human Lives. Nothing Is More Basic Than The Need For Food And Shelter. Emergency Assistance Enables Families And Seniors Facing A Temporary Crisis To Stabilize Their Lives: To Remain In Their Homes, To Keep Utilities Connected, To Have Enough To Eat, To Secure Needed Medical Attention And Other Critical Services. Without This Assistance, They Face Eviction, Living In Cars Or On The Streets While Trying To Find Scarce Space In Shelters, Unhealthy Living Conditions, And Untreated Illnesses. Scs Also Helps Homeless Families Regain Permanent Housing. These Families, Whether Living In Cars, Homeless Shelters, Or Battered Women's Shelters, Have Enough Income To Meet Monthly Obligations But Not Enough For Deposits.
