Su Casa's Original Founder Is Petra Medelez. In 1976, Petra Fled An Abusive Marriage. Finding Refuge At A Woman's Center, Petra And Her Children Began A New Life Free From Violence. In 1979, She Opened A Crisis And Hotline Service And A 30-Day Crisis Shelter, Later Receiving Non-Profit Status In 1980. Since Then, Su Casa Has Grown And Expanded Its Services To Include A Transitional Shelter, A Teen Outreach Program, Outreach Services, And A Thrift Store, All In An Effort To Aid Victims And Survivors Of Domestic Violence And To Educate About The Prevalence And Prevention Of Domestic Violence.
